Vauxhall has unveiled the brand-new, British-built Vivaro at the CV Show in Birmingham, with England football legends on hand to give the van its debut.
Former manager Graham Taylor was joined by goalkeeping great Ray Clemence and Matt Le Tissier to launch the latest addition to the Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles line-up, with both panel van and double cab body styles on display.
The Vivaro currently currently accounts for around ten per cent of sales in its segment (Van D), with 50,000 vehicles sold each year, and the second generation model will build on this thanks to a number of refinements.
These include longer diverse variants to increase load capacity, a state-of-the-art IntelliLink infotainment technology with user-friendly navigation in the cabin, and new equipment details to transform it into a mobile office of sorts.
It is also more economical, thanks to a new turbo diesel engine offering reduced fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions to limit running costs.
Steve Bryant, brand manager at Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, revealed that the new Vivaro is built at Vauxhall’s Luton plant, with €200 million invested in bringing the new model to production and 1,200 jobs created.
He commented: "The Vivaro is in a fiercely competitive market, and today’s customers require more from a light commercial vehicle than ever before. We are very proud to take the wraps off the new Vivaro for its world debut."
